Success Story: Infinity’s Journey to IT Resilience and Growth with Quorum

Infinity, led by Graeme and Rebecca Holm, is an ambitious financial and real estate investment firm dedicated to empowering clients towards financial freedom. Recently, Infinity grew from around 70 users to over 200 employees within a year, expanding rapidly across Australia and internationally. To sustain this growth, Infinity needed a reliable, proactive IT partner. They found this in Quorum, who stepped in to address their pressing needs and help lay a stable, scalable IT foundation for the future.

Challenges

Before Quorum’s involvement, Infinity struggled with a less responsive Managed Services Provider (MSP). Issues ranged from delayed resolutions to a lack of proactive support. “If our brokers’ PCs weren’t working, they needed an immediate response – and they weren’t getting it,” says Jonathon Desmond, Infinity’s Chief Technology Officer.

With a rapidly growing workforce, Infinity needed reliable desktop and endpoint support to maintain productivity. At the same time, vendor sprawl and higher cybersecurity demands, driven by their growth and sensitivity of financial data were stretching their previous MSP’s capabilities thin. As a result, Infinity needed more than just a quick fix; they needed a partner who could provide immediate solutions while building a long-term, sustainable IT infrastructure to support their continued growth.

A Shift in Mindset

When Jonathon joined Infinity in early 2024, his initial goal was to transition IT services in-house. However, after seeing the dedication and expertise of Quorum’s team firsthand, he changed his mind. “Quorum has changed my view, – I’ve worked with outsourcers who’ve been ok; I don’t think I’ve worked with one as good as Quorum.” The partnership with Quorum enabled Infinity to maintain high service standards without building a full internal 24-hour IT team.

Through this partnership, Infinity saw significant improvements almost immediately:

  • Rapid Response Times: Quorum’s locally-based team and streamlined ticket triaging ensure quick resolutions, keeping Infinity’s operations on track.
  • Enhanced Security: After assessing Infinity’s environment, Quorum implemented a robust Azure solution, securing critical data and reducing risks tied to legacy on-premise infrastructure.
  • Streamlined Reporting: Our service reporting and tactical strategy documents – including the Roadmaps and Risk Matrix – streamline executive reporting and help maintain momentum on key initiatives.
  • Efficient Onboarding & Offboarding: Direct collaboration between Quorum and Infinity’s HR team has improved device management, securing seamless transitions for new and departing staff.
Results

Infinity’s new internal IT team handles day-to-day needs while relying on Quorum for high-level support and specialised projects. “We’re handling a lot of our desktop support with the knowledge – with the safety blanket – that, in an escalating scenario or after hours, support can be transitioned to Quorum,” says Jonathon Desmond. “That said, we don’t need Quorum for the mundane stuff; we leverage Quorum for the high-end work that we would have to hire specialists to do anyway.”

Key initiatives Quorum has successfully delivered include:

  • Cloud-Only Migration: Quorum is guiding Infinity’s migration to SaaS and PaaS services, enhancing flexibility, security, and compliance.
  • Advanced Security Upgrades: Migrating Infinity to Entra ID, ensuring that all Infinity identities authenticate via Microsoft cloud services and reducing reliance on the traditional Active Directory infrastructure.
  • Cyber Security Training & Threat Monitoring: Driving security enhancements to Infinity’s Microsoft 365 environment, strengthening the internal security strategy in alignment with the ACSC Essential 8 model, and conducting targeted employee security training to address Infinity’s heightened risk as a target for sophisticated cyber security attacks.

With Quorum as a strategic partner, Infinity has gained stability and scalability, freeing the team to focus on its core mission. Quorum’s support goes beyond daily IT operations, offering insights from its broader client base and close ties with Microsoft, through to proactively alerting Infinity to emerging cyber threats.

According to Jonathon, “Because Microsoft keep bringing out new tools and new features, one of the neat things with a partner like Quorum is they stay on top of that and say, ‘Hey, this is something that may be useful to you’, because they understand our business”.

Infinity sees strong ROI from the partnership, finding it far more cost-effective than building an in-house team. “If we wanted to hire a Microsoft engineer, it’d be as much as our whole, managed services contract just for somebody with some experience, skills, and the right attitude,” Jonathon concludes. “We would be spending that on a single employee, and we wouldn’t have a 24-hour service desk, we wouldn’t have the emergency panic button, we wouldn’t have all the things we get with Quorum.”

This partnership has transformed Infinity’s IT from reactive to proactive, laying the foundation for a secure, scalable growth and enabling the company to focus on helping clients achieve financial freedom.
